Year 1 Learning about pets

In Year 1 we have been learning about pets.  So, as you can imagine, we were extremely excited when Miss Curtis brought some chicks and ducklings into school.

We had the chance to hold them, and observe the differences between them. We noticed that the ducklings were very fast runners (they are Indian Runner Ducks), and that the ducklings had special webbed feet to help them to swim. We also noticed that the hen chicks and ducklings had different shaped beaks. It was lots of fun!

World Book Day on 5th March 2015

We had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day on 5th March. Some children dressed as superheroes, others dressed as animals. There were princesses, witches and even pirates. Everyone made a real effort to dress as their favourite story character.

Build your child’s enthusiasm for books by reading together regularly – just ten minutes reading a day with a child makes a huge difference and will help them fall in love with reading.
