SHROVE TUESDAY "PANCAKE DAY" 2016

Pancake Day in Nursery 2016
The children have been learning about shape in Nursery and reading a book called ‘My Mum and Dad make me Laugh’, which is all about spots and stripes.
On Pancake Day we made pancakes and talked about shape, size, pattern and ‘how many?’.
First we touched, smelt and talked about pancakes that had already been made.
We looked at the different fillings and wrote our choices down on ‘pancake paper circles’.

We pretended to make pancakes of our own.
We made a chart to see how many people wanted each filling.
We signed up to make pancakes.
We followed a photograph picture recipe.
We mixed the ingredients all together.
We made spotty and stripy patterns on our pancakes with the fillings before we ate them at the. Pancake Café.

Mmm we love

pancakes....

CHINESE DANCE WORKSHOP 8th FEBRUARY 2016

2016 is the Year of the Monkey

Maytree school children enjoyed a day of  ‘Dragon Dance’ brought to the school by Education Group Ltd and captured the symbolism of Chinese New Year.

The children learned about Chinese New Year celebrations and how colour traditionally is believed to ward off evil spirits. Everyone had lots of fun dancing with dragons' heads, fans and umbrellas.  The day ended with a performance in the afternoon where the children showed off their new Chinese dance steps.
