Reception Year week commencing 09 May 2016

This week in Year R we are learning all about friendships and feelings.

We will be thinking about what makes us happy/sad/angry etc and how we can help our friends when they feel unhappy.

In Maths we are learning addition and subtraction and will be using counting objects to solve number problems.

This week is a consolidation week for Letters and Sounds and we will be recapping all of the sounds we have learnt so far and applying them in our writing.

It is going to be a busy week!

Year R trip to Longdown Dairy Farm.

On Friday 22nd April Year R went to Longdown dairy Farm on a school trip. We did many activities including feeding the cows, goats, pigs and horse, holding chicks and collecting chicken eggs.

We had a great day despite the rain!

We have been learning lots about farm animals at school and it was great to see them.

Here are some photos to show what fun we had.

ST GEORGE & THE DRAGON COMPETITION 22 APRIL 2016

To celebrate St Georges Day, Saturday 23rd April, Newtown Residents Association asked Maytree if the children would like to draw pictures of their own interpretation of George & the Dragon.

We had a great response with many fabulous pictures which made the judging very difficult.
Here are the winner's pictures and I think you will agree that they deserved to win.

Well done to everyone that entered a picture.

Nursery Children's visit to Manor Farm April 2016

The Nursery children took the school bus to visit Manor Far, singing "The wheels on the bus" as they travelled and looking out for familiar places.

At the farm the children saw, smelt, touched and named the animals and baby animals. Some children were lucky enough to milk the cow or bottle feed the calf or handle baby rabbits and chicks.

The children visited the old farm house and school that had a water pump and no toilet or light switches!

They learnt about the importance of washing hands as they went around the form.

Take a look at some photos showing what fun we all had.
